this blog represents to me a constant struggle. on the one hand, i do think i provide a unique point of view that is informed by an unique combination of my academic background in the sociology of culture, the sociology of sports and my slightly curmudgeonly worldview. on the other hand, i’m just like a million and one other bloggers who are basically just jerking their egos off into cyberspace. what is particularly frustrating for me is that i can’t get people to comment on any of my posts. so this means two things. 1) the stuff i write isn’t particularly interesting or worth commenting on, or 2) my friends haven’t figured out the interwebs yet. while choice 1 is most likely the problem, there is a distinct possibility that choice 2 is also a problem. i think my generation is the cutoff point for real participation in web 2.0. anyways, as i’ve alluded to before on this blog, sometimes, i’m not sure what the point of all of this is.

with all that in mind and with the consolidation of bobngo.com, i am quite ambivalent about announcing that the offical bob ngo wiki has gone live. yes, it’s just like wikipedia, except it is about me. this is your chance to have fun on this website without engaging in any of the ideas that i am trying so hard to get you to think about. instead, you can now make dick and fart jokes at my expense. in some ways, it’s like throwing a bone to my technologically challenged friends. but in other ways, it’s the most self-indulgent vain thing i’ve ever done. it’s not completely functional yet, as i still need to figure out how to add links to the blog and bobngo.com. but it’s working enough where you can edit it. i’ve kicked things off, by laying out a rough guide for you to follow, but like i said, feel free to do whatever you want with this page. click on the link provided in this post, or click on “wiki” in the menu at the top of the screen, and have fun kids.
